'Worker tries to murder colleague'

Dubai - The victim, a 20-year-old Pakistani building carpenter, claimed that Q.H locked the door and switched the lights off before stabbing him.

A Pakistani labourer allegedly tried to murder a colleague after luring him into his room, a Dubai court has heard. On Monday in the Court of First Instance, the defendant was charged with premeditated attempted murder.
According to prosecution records, the incident happened on September 25 last year. The 23-year-old defendant, identified as Q.H, reportedly told the complainant he found a bank card belonging to the latter. Q.H asked the complainant to accompany him to his room so as to give him the card. He then allegedly stabbed the complainant in the stomach, back and chest.

He managed to open the door and rushed outside, where he collapsed. A Pakistani worker, 34, testified that he heard Q.H and the victim having a fight in the room. He also heard the victim scream, he said. He found the door to the room locked.
A policeman said they arrested Q.H in the labour accommodation in Dubai Investment Park in Jebel Ali. The court adjourned the hearing to August 16.
