A man almost died after he allegedly tried to smuggle 144 heroin capsules in his gut, a Sharjah court heard on Sunday.
The Pakistani defendant, who is in his 20s, was arrested at the Sharjah International Airport on December 20 last year after the police received a tip-off. He was rushed to Al Qasimi Hospital as his life was in danger.
The Sharjah Shariah Court of First Instance, presided by Hussein Al Ousofi, heard from a police sergeant that he received the extracted 144 pills.
