12 schools in Dubai rated ‘outstanding’

Knowledge and Human Development Authority inspection on 141 schools shows eight schools have improved ratings.

Education regulator Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) released on Wednesday the complete results of the 2013-14 school inspections.

The school reports published provide a comprehensive review of the performance of each school in Dubai and help them plan better and improve education standards.

Out of the 141 schools inspected, 12 were rated outstanding, 57 rated good, 34 rated acceptable and eight rated unsatisfactory. Also read the complete list of KHDA school rankings for 2013-14

Overall, eight schools have improved their ratings and the number of unsatisfactory schools has decreased.

“We encourage all parents to read the school reports in full. Parents should be fully informed of the strengths and weaknesses of their child’s school and have a comprehensive understanding of its progress over the past year,” said Jameela Al Muhairi, Chief of Dubai School Inspection Bureau at KHDA. The results can be accessed at www.khda.gov.ae.

More than 89 per cent of the student population attend 158 private schools in Dubai, which offer 15 different curricula. Last year, student enrolment increased by 8 per cent, with 243,715 students now attending private schools in the emirate.

The reports give a detailed account of the DSIB inspection findings. The key factors analysed include social and personal development of students, the standard of teaching and assessment, the quality of the curriculum, health and safety, school support, and leadership.
