The death toll from the storm which struck central and eastern Europe last week rose to 24 and some areas are still under threat from rising waters
The students had a rare opportunity to meet legendary F1 champions Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa to discuss vehicle technology as they prepare for the Shell Eco-Marathon competition in Manila in February 2014.
The visit came as part of global energy leader Shell’s on-going commitment to knowledge sharing in line with Abu Dhabi’s vision 2030. The students learned about the superior technology that goes into making powerful F1 cars. They were also able to draw parallels between their cars and F1 cars in the process of conceptualisation, production and race preparations. They also discovered how the same lubricant solutions, provided by Shell, can be used for performance to fuel efficiency for their cars and speed for the F1 cars.
Following their tour, the students were publicly commended for their efforts in advancing innovation in the country and their drive for technology excellence at an exclusive event organised by Shell, which was attended by UAE’s leading business and oil and gas community, Ferrari F1 drivers and Shell’s global executives.
