Abu Dhabi City Municipality concludes student summer training programme

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has concluded the Summer Training Programme 2015 for students of universities and colleges under the theme 'We can plan, aspire and give... We can innovate and cultivate our time'.
The programme, which started on June 24, enrolled 79 students from various public and private universities, where students were subjected to a two-month training period in various sectors and divisions of the municipality.
The municipality hosted a ceremony to felicitate trainees, coordinators and employees who oversaw the training. In a speech delivered in the event, the municipality praised the commitments and keenness of the students on gaining practical knowledge and skills during the training period.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality is adopting a clear strategy towards educating citizens and grooming them for steering the development drive in various fields. Therefore, it accords top priority and serious consideration to training and views trainees as an integral part of the municipality's structures and work teams.
The municipality has been pioneering in offering training prospects attracting scores of students during previous seasons in implementation of the unlimited support and utmost care accorded by Abu Dhabi Government to citizens. Such attention is encapsulated in development programmes oriented to community development and uplifting the capabilities of students to the extent enabling them to steer the development projects; which makes the municipality so proud of students joining the summer internship initiative.
The municipality is keen to making the summer training a platform for gaining practical skills that assist students with their future careers and fostering their practical knowledge and abilities. In this regard the Municipality has made every effort to ensure that the training program will be a success for all students taking part this year.
The municipality assigns paramount attention and utmost care to the human, corporate and community development, and considers it a key pillar leading to quality products and excellent performance; which is the core objective of the municipality i.e. nurturing an educated and experienced base of youth, and aligning the needs of the comprehensive development with the availability of Emirati human resources.
The municipality explained to trainees the importance of uplifting communication skills with the community, and breaking the barriers of hesitation in dealing with others as this step is the gateway to the world of business, achievement and excellence.
It also urged them to come out from any training programme with a clear vision of future objectives, hoping that this exposure would motivate them to promote skills and experiences empowering students to be leaders in any capacity or specialty of their careers.
In the same context, the municipality expressed its commitment to improving the deliverables & processes of the summer training program annually by offering students exposure to pick up practical knowledge and skill needed for taking future positions, especially as regards their psychological grooming and behavioural attributes in keeping with the standards of the civilised services. The Municipality stated that it would welcome suggestions of students and implements them every year with the aim of improving the training techniques and achieving the ambitions of students during this summer training program.
The Municipality treats summer interns on equal footing as formal employees and always seeks to offer them a perfect training environment aided by all resources needed for the success of the training program. It seeks to revamp the vision and objectives of training through adopting new techniques in dealing with trainees. The success of the Municipality's training program has therefore been widely conceived as it is serious and interactive.
The Municipality is keen on offering students the maximum exposure to practical skills during their summer training period, and subjecting them to a real-life experience in order to prepare them practically for coping with future requirements of the job market following their graduation.
The aim of the Municipality's summer training program is to inject practical skills in trainees to supplement their theoretical studies and enhancing their skills by exposure to a practical life experience; which in turn will uplift the quality of graduates capable of serving the comprehensive development drive in the UAE.
Enrolling this elite bunch of trainees is part of the Municipality's social responsibility and its active participation in all efforts of building of a sustained strategy. It reflects its keenness to qualify and train Emirati cadres to nurture an excellent generation capable of responding to the needs of the sweeping current or future development requirements.
The ceremony was dotted by several spots where the Municipality honoured all trainee students as well as coordinators of sectors and students winning the presentation contest made to celebrate the innovative skills of students.
