The Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) has launched a campaign to mark World Teachers’ Day. The campaign, titled ‘Thank You My Teacher’, includes various activities of appreciation of teachers by students and the community highlighting the vital role a teacher plays in society.

Addressing teachers across Abu Dhabi, Adec Director-General Dr Amal Al Qubaisi said: “Quality education is a right. That is why teaching is a rewarding job. When you witness the success of your students and think back, you will be proud of yourselves.

“World Teachers’ Day is a very important event for us in Adec. We must never forget that many teachers taught dignitaries and important figures who play an important role in today’s society, and have become who they are ... thanks to their teachers.”

Adec launched the campaign on Sunday which will run till October 2, and students, parents, schools and the community in general are expected to honour teachers for the special role they play in moulding a successful and competent generation that contributes to the development of the country.

The UAE celebrates World Teachers’ Day on October 5, while many countries celebrate during the first week of October depending on their calendars.
