Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of School Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec), announced that all schools in Abu Dhabi and its surrounding areas will instruct students to leave at 12pm on Thursday because of the annual Qasr Al Hosn Festival.
Students shall be released early on Thursday due to various activities and programmes that require having a number of roads around the celebration area closed from noon to 7pm, which will affect traffic flow in the surrounding areas. Adec has instructed schools to inform parents of students’ early dismissal.
Adec also coordinated with Emirates Transport to organise transfer of students to avoid traffic jams and facilitate their journey to their homes. A number of Adec staff will be participating in the opening ceremony to celebrate Qasr Al Hosn’s 251 years, making it a historical icon representing the UAE history, culture and traditions.
Visitors will get to explore the ancient fort as it undergoes renovation with a variety of inspiring activities, including a world-class show reflecting themes inspired by the UAE’s history, interactive heritage and art workshops, celebrations highlighting Emirati skills and traditions, and historical tours and exhibitions.
