Two children's nurseries were shut down for operating without business licence in Ajman. The Ajman Department of Economic Development (ADED), in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, recently took action against the erring nurseries.
Following a complaint, the ADED swooped down on the nurseries and found that they were accepting children even though they didn't have business licence. The establishments were closed down to ensure children's safety and security.
Abdullah Bin Naser Al Nuaimi, assistant director-general for Economic Registration and Control, said: "We are closely monitoring all nurseries in Ajman to ensure that their learning environment is safe and secure for the children. Before enrolling their kids, parents should also check whether the nursery centers have acquired the necessary permits from the DED and the Ministry of Education and have built a safe community.
"Doing so contributes to Ajman Vision 2021's goal of building a happy society."
Majed Al Suwaidi, director of the Department of Control and Consumer Protection of DED-Ajman, stressed the need to tighten the supervision of all educational institutions, especially nurseries, to ensure their compliance with relevant laws and regulations in the emirate. Al Suwaidi said that swift action will be taken against any institution found to be violating the emirate's existing rules and laws.
He added: "The department has been regularly inspecting educational institutions and nurseries to check if their licences are still valid and whether they are complying with the set requirements. These inspections aim to protect the next generation, promote parents' rights, and shield our children and society from any risk and danger."
