Calling all GCC national young designers, the Royal Thai Consulate General in Dubai and Tourism Authority of Thailand are offering an all-expense paid trip to Thailand to attend a study tour and Thai fabric workshop from April 30 to May 6 this year.
"The programme (open to all fashion design students/young designers from the GCC countries, including the UAE) is designed to enhance cultural experience for fashion design students, allowing them to learn the local way of living, as well as taking part in numerous activities that will give students a new perspective of a different culture," Thai Consul Prapavadee Boonchuaykuakool told Khaleej Times.

The study tour is in line with Thailand's campaign "Discover Thainess," aimed at promoting Thai tourism especially in small provinces and unseen cities of Thailand to highlight the variety of Thai fabric and textiles and develop a Thai design with international perspective.
Last year, the project focused on Kiriwong fabric, a natural tie-dye cotton from Nakhon Sri Thammarat province, south of Thailand.
This year, Thailand Academy 2016 will be organised in Chiang Mai and Lamphun provinces, situated in the northern part of Thailand, known for its greenery and mountain landscape, ancient kingdoms and recognised as centres of handicrafts especially in hand-woven fabric.
The fashion design scholars will get their hands on traditional hand loom to create fine and beautiful collections whether in cotton or silk. They will also have a study tour of Thailand's capital city, Bangkok.
