Australia reached 317-3 with six overs to spare after bowling England out for 315 in 49.4 overs
The vision of this five-year programme, first established in May 2011, is to further the UAE’s efforts of shaping a knowledge-based economy.
Under this programme, full Master’s or Doctoral scholarships will be awarded to applicants enrolling in leading universities across the UAE or overseas for highly sought-after programmes in education, social studies, tourism, science majors, museum and curatorial studies, as well as healthcare and public administration.
Mohanna Al Muhairi, Chief Operating Officer at Emirates Foundation, said: “The scholarships awarded in previous years experienced great success. We received tremendous feedback from students studying across the UAE and abroad on the learning and confidence they have gained from the selective programmes offered.”
Dr Mohsen Onsy, Zayed University’s Associate Provost and Chief Academic Officer, said: “Scholarships are awarded to academically exceptional students. Their maturity and growth is reflected in their statement of purpose and through their participation in extracurricular community or university activities.”
The grants cover tuition fees for students studying at selected universities in the UAE. As for overseas grants, they cover tuition fees and other costs, including travel and living allowances.
To be eligible, students must apply to a university for a Master’s degree or PhD studies in 2014, with a minimum Bachelor’s degree GPA of 3.0 (from Zayed University), and hold an IELTS of 6.0 or equivalent. Application can be made through the Emirates Foundation website from now until January 7.
The scholarship is open to candidates above the age of 21. Applicants should have been accepted by or in the process of enrolling into one of the universities in the UAE, or the world’s top 200 universities accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
