As it continued to pour on Sunday evening, a fake tweet started doing the rounds in Dubai.
Informing students that schools will be closed on March 18, the tweet also carried The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) logo with the message -
"In order to provide safety for your children the ministry of education has decided to give a holiday on Monday, 18/03/19. #YearOfTolerance.
By evening, the tweet had circulated in many school groups, creating confusion among parents and students whether schools in Dubai will be open on March 18.
To clear the confusion, the KHDA issued an official tweet last night.
Honestly you guys - when did you ever know our rain tweets to be so boring? ?? Now go to sleep - you've got school tomorrow. ?? pic.twitter.com/9IHIINyeTJThe UAE minister of education Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi had told Khaleej Times that affected schools shall remain closed.
