Dubai — A Dubai student ranked second in a prestigious global environment competition hosted in Germany. The event in Germany - Xplore 2015 Phoenix - is hosted every three years in Bad Pyrmont.
The team comprising Rakesh Joe Francy a student and Dr Prashant Kumar Soori, Assistant Professor, Heriot-Watt University developed a project called Mini Automated Farming which allows herbs and vegetables to be developed in harsh weather conditions, while Aakash Prakash ex-student of Manipal University did the presentation, designing, animation and video of the project.
The project also seeks to improve the standard of the herbs and vegetables in terms of texture, smell and taste without the use of chemicals or pesticides.
“The competition and the final German trip was fun filled and a good experience for me and my team,” said Aakash Prakash. “Being the only team from the Middle East and representing Heriot-Watt University and the UAE was a wonderful experience. Winning the second prize was a proud moment.”
