Abu Dhabi - The Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) on Monday called on all current Grade 10 public school students to access the Grade 11 electives course description for 2015-16 and register their preference. This comes as part of the Adec’s Cycle 3 Curriculum Restructuring Model.
The model requires Grade 11 public school students to study a unified stream with a common core curriculum starting August 2015-2016.
According to the Adec, the initiative comes in line with its vision to equip students with “21st century skills that support the economic development of the country”.
The Grade 10 students (who will be in Grade 11 starting August 30, 2015), who number 8,824 in the emirate, are expected to select two out of three possible electives — Biology II, Chemistry II and Geo-Science — before the month is over.
Students may register their preference via the Adec’s website, www.adec.ac.ae, under the link ‘Grade 11 Student Electives 2015/2016”.
“As recently announced and as part of the Cycle 3 Restructuring Model, Grade 11 students will no longer have to choose between two tracks: Science or Literary, rather all students will be taking one track. This comes in line with the Adec’s mission to provide high quality educational opportunities, while enhancing student performance in line with leading global practice,” explained Dr Najwa Al Hosani, Adec’s Curriculum Division Manager.
Students will be allowed to register during the designated period, and in case of changes to their preferences, the school needs to be informed. -reporters@khaleejtimes.com
