The Sharjah Science Museum has finalised a line-up of events to celebrate its second consecutive Science Day. The three-day event will be held at the Sharjah Science Museum from today until Saurday.

Science Day will offer something of interest for all age groups, and is aimed at educating the public on various fields of science, while drawing an association with everyday activities to enhance people’s understanding of the role of science and its impact on life.
Workshops and presentations will be delivered by experts from the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture, Bee’ah, Sharjah University, Khalifa University, Wesgreen International School, Al Ahliya Private Schools, the Ministry of Interior, the Police Air Wing, Sharjah Police, Al Majd School, Omar bin Al Khattab School and Sanid.
During the three-day event, Police Air Wing will give visitors the chance to enjoy a virtual flying experience through the flight simulator presentation.
This edition of Science Day will also include a captivating performance by the Sharjah International Airport Police’s sniffer dogs, while the Forensic Laboratory will display intriguing research apparatuses, including a device for detecting counterfeit currency. The Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police will create a virtual crime scene and demonstrate different methods of investigation using scientific methods.
In addition, representatives from Sanid — a UAE-based volunteer emergency response programme — will train visitors on giving first aid, while Bee’ah will display hydroponic products for the breeding of assorted types of aquaculture. The International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture will highlight the importance of biosaline agriculture. Visitors can also look forward to a radar demonstration by the Sharjah Police.
Science Day will also display projects by students from the University of Sharjah, Khalifa University and several other educational institutes. A lineup of scientific competitions and shows, as well as a medley of family-oriented workshops will be held during the event.
On the engineering side, Reem Al Marzouqi of UAE University, who invented a special needs car dedicated to people who lose their upper extremities.
Sharjah Museums Department continues to support lifelong learning through its Department of Interpretation and Education by offering a wide range of educational programmes geared towards children, adults, and families, as well as those with special needs.
Monthly programming typically exceeds 10 workshops, lectures, interactive tours and new activities. Many programmes are offered completely free of charge and in both Arabic and English. SMD also delivers innovative programming tailored to university students, school children, teachers, and other groups interested in visiting the museums for educational enrichment.
