Here are some Google tools which can help expand learning outside the classroom:
Google Search
As the first point of call for any research task, Google Search provides information fast. When you search for something online, you’re not just searching for a webpage, you are looking for answers and that’s where Knowledge Graph comes in. Knowledge Graph is a tool that provides additional information related to your initial search. For example, if you search for Moroccan explorer Ibn Battuta, the Knowledge Graph will also provide information on Marco Polo, a fellow explorer from Italy who travelled through Asia.
Google Docs
Google Docs allows you to create rich documents with images, tables, equations, drawings, links and more. Students can gather input and manage feedback with social commenting abilities, so now you can just leave your notes on your kids’ work and they can make the necessary revisions. Actually, in the Docs, Sheets and Slides editors, multiple people can work on the same document at the same time.
Hangouts
Google+ Hangouts is one of the best communications apps for groups or individuals to send messages, photos and make video calls to friends and classmates. Video calls from Hangouts allows users to have face-to-face conversations with up to 10 people. Students can call their teammates on Hangouts and work on it together.
Cultural Institute
The Cultural Institute is a tool that showcases exhibits and collections from museums and archives all around the world. Another helpful tool is Google Translate, which provides free translation in 80 languages and 5,112 language pairs.
YouTube
Perhaps students, may want to recap on a topic covered in class. YouTube helps teachers and students alike access millions of educational videos that do exactly that. Content from the world’s leading universities and global thought leaders is just a click away. Duroosi, a collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Education, local telecom company Etisalat and Google, provides free tutorials for students in Grade 11 and 12.
