The law amends the name of the university to become Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University.

Additionally, the law amends some of the authorities of university’s President, Board of Governors, Chancellor and departments. The amendment aims to implement best practices used in international academic organisations.

The amendment also mirrors the directives of Shaikh Mohammed to transform Dubai into a smart city, keep pace with the rapid developments taking place in the field of e-education and enable the university to provide high-quality educational services.

Pursuant to the law, the faculty and staff of Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University are subject to special rules and regulations that organise and govern their duties and rights.

This amendment aims to enable the university to attract high-calibre professionals who have distinguished achievements and qualifications in the field of smart education and retain the experts already working in the university.

Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Chairman of the Board of Governors of Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University, asserted that the institution is the first e-education specialised university in the Middle East.

Chancellor Dr Mansoor Al Awar said 270 undergraduate and PG students graduated from its three colleges in February. He noted the increase in the number of graduates year after year reflects the increasing trust from the academia in the university as the first choice for e-education and distance learning.
