Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, opened a branch of the Glenelg School of Abu Dhabi (GSAD), part of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s (Adnoc) educational family, in Ghayathi, Gharbia Region.

The school accommodates 260 male and female students.

Mohammed Shleiweh Al Qubaisi, Director of Human Resources at Adnoc, thanked Shaikh Hamdan for opening the school and praised his care and support for developing education in the Gharbia Region.

GSAD was founded in 2008 by Adnoc and is one of the educational entities of Adnoc’s educational family of learning institutions, including the Petroleum Institute, the Adnoc Technical Institute, and Adnoc Achievers Oasis. He added the school has campuses in Abu Dhabi, Ruwais and Medinat Zayed.

The primary goal of GSAD, he explained, is to create and conduct a challenging and rigorous secondary academic curriculum and program for highly qualified students from the UAE and other countries.

The programme of instruction is based on the successful model of American independent schools of the highest quality and will be delivered in English (with the exception of Arabic Language and Social Studies, Islamic Studies, and World Languages). The founding and setting up of the school is being based on a collaboration with the Glenelg Country School, a leading independent school in the USA.

The goal of the school is to prepare every school graduate for admission into colleges and universities of the highest standing both here and throughout the world.

The vision of Glenelg School of Abu Dhabi, in line with the UAE government’s pioneering initiatives, aims to become a premier school in the region, graduating highly competent, socially responsible citizens and future national leaders.
