Jalila foundation invests Dh4m in medical scholarships

The postgraduate medical scholarship for Emiratis is the foundation’s third scholarship grant cycle since inception.

Dubai - Al Jalila Foundation is welcoming Emirati medical students to apply for postgraduate medical scholarships for the third year.

The foundation has invested Dh4 million in postgraduate medical scholarships for Emiratis for the year 2015-16. It is s open to all Emirati students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in medical and health sciences in the UAE.

Dr Abdulkareem Al Olama, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, said: “This year we look forward to receiving applications covering an even wider range of specialties that will help broaden the UAE’s medical capabilities, so that it can continue to offer its citizens world-class healthcare in line with UAE Vision 2021. Not only will our scholarships help to develop capabilities, they will build capacity, continuity and sustainability in the UAE’s healthcare sector.”

Since its inception Al Jalila Foundation has awarded 19 scholarships for postgraduate studies in nursing, dentistry and public health at institutions across the UAE. Two of the first scholarship recipients to be funded by Al Jalila Foundation will graduate from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Dubai later this year.

The application deadline for the scholarships for 2015-2016 academic year is July 31, 2015, and names of successful applicants will be announced in September 2015.
