Khaleej Times, the UAE's first English daily, in association with technology leaders Nutanix, successfully concluded the first virtual edition of CIO Education Council on April 22, 2020. Attending the event were top CIOs and heads of IT departments from government and private education institutions including Abu Dhabi University, Khalifa University, Ankabut, American University of Sharjah, University of Wollongong and Higher Colleges of Technology.

With the implementation of a distance education and e-learning systems as a preventive measure against the current scenario, it is now more important than ever for the education sector to adopt smart solutions and apps to ensure the continuity of the education sector as well as empower the next generation with the right tools.

The half-day strategic webinar addressed the challenges CIOs in the education sector face with process transformation, data centres and IT infrastructure to help gain agility and eliminate downtime under tighter budgets.

Aaron White, Sales Director METI, Nutanix, delivered the welcome address. Speaking about the initiative, he said: "This is an opportune moment to discuss the challenges that education establishments face today in seamlessly making the shift to digital learning, as well as accelerating the transition to operating critical applications to a multi-cloud environment that Nutanix can make invisible."


Fahem Al Nuaimi, CEO, Ankabut, delivered the keynote address highlighting how technology will impact the future of education. He said: "Technology is playing a pivotal role in online education, not just as a tool but it is integrated seamlessly into the curriculum delivery and complete learning system. I believe that ICT will change and transform the way we do teaching as well as all education in coming years."

Ahmed Mostageer, Regional Sales Manager, Nutanix, addressed how educational institutions can embrace improved learning pathways with transformative technology and with limited IT resources.

The speaker pool also consisted of other industry experts including Joseph Aninias, Director - IMTS Information Management & Technology Services, Abu Dhabi University and Dr. Hamad Odhabi, Al Ain Campus Director-Abu Dhabi University- Al Ain Campus.

The CIO Education Council also proved the successful delivery of a webinar to ensure business continuity in the current scenario and provide a platform for thought leaders to share their opinions and guide other leaders towards problem-solving. Nutanix delivered a powerful program on how a well highly equipped IT infrastructure can help education institutes to manage their schedules and functions.
