Medical science award to fund 14 UAE university projects

The Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences has allocated Dh2 million to fund 14 projects of the UAE University; University of Sharjah; Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research; Zayed University; and the Ministry of Health. With this, the award now funds 99 studies.
Professor Sehamuddin Galadari, chairman of the award's Medical Research Grant Committee, said: "The reviewers' committees formed by the award's Research Support Centre, reviewed 63 research projects. Fourteen studies have been selected to be funded by the award" Galadari said.
"The selected projects focus on the fields of mental health, molecular and cellular basis of disease, health and lifestyle education. Six of the studies are clinical science research, while the other eight are basic medical sciences."
The results will be published in the print and electronic versions of the award's Hamdan Medical Journal, Galadari said.
