Shaikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has issued a ministerial decision on the formation of a National Committee for Scholarships and Grants Coordination under his chairmanship.
Representatives of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces, the Ministry of Interior, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and the UAE University will be the other members.
The committee has been set up with the aim of organising the system of scholarships and grants, and ensuring coordination between the authorities awarding scholarships in the state through the development of concepts on the development of regulatory frameworks, in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The committee is also tasked with establishing a national database on the system of scholarships and grants in the state, and coordinating with the ministry regarding the development of regulations and policies and mechanisms of follow-up of scholars, particularly regarding the employment of graduates, taking into account their performance and professional training. The committee will also contribute to the strengthening of the role of the private sector in the provision of scholarships, and propose support and financial allocations for students.
