In his remarks at the ceremony held at the Emirates Palace Hotel here, Shaikh Hamed said, “These efforts are inspired by the directives of the founding father of the UAE, the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who strongly urged that the country’s environment and natural resources be preserved.”

The UAE leadership, he added, was committed to working for the good of the country’s most precious resource — its people — as recommended by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He also thanked General Shaikh Mohammed for his tireless efforts to support science, engineering and technology education for the good of the UAE and its citizens.

Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, gave the keynote speech, saying Masdar Institute has achieved success within a short period while contributing largely to creating and developing qualified human capital specialised in sustainable and renewable energy.

“We are pleased to congratulate the fourth group of students who are graduating today and thank the UAE leadership for its continuous support that enables the youth to contribute to the progress of the country,” he said.

“The progress of Masdar City in general and the achievements of Masdar Institute in particular are admirable. The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development is currently working on a new strategy to enhance its growing contribution to ensure the community’s growth remains sustainable.”

Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Chairman of Masdar and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the board of trustees, said, “The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology is playing an increasingly critical role in supporting the clean energy industry with technological breakthroughs and world-class thinkers. The development of our human capital and the establishment of an entrepreneurial research and development environment in Abu Dhabi underpins our leadership’s vision of diversifying our economy.”

A total of 130 Masdar Institute students from eight Master of Science programmes received their graduation certificates.

They included 53 Emiratis and 77 international students from 29 countries.

There has been an increase in the number of Emirati graduates.
