Ajman - The Ajman University of Science & Technology (AUSC) has affirmed that it strictly sticks to fixed percentages for admission in the academic programs available, and rigorously observes the conditions of academic accreditation by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The University has issued a statement to this effect late on Thursday in reply to a letter from the Omani Cultural Attaché in Abu Dhabi on February 26 in which the Ministry of Higher Education in the Sultanate of Oman has ordered no more Omani students to attend any further courses or academic programs at the Ajman University of Science & Technology as of the next academic year 2015-2016.

The Cultural Attaché of Oman has attributed the decision to a pressing demand for certain specialties in the Sultanate but such reasoning is in stark contradiction to what the director of degrees equivalence and accreditation department said in an interview on the Omani official TV channel.

He said that the percentage of admission in the academic programs varies from 2010 to 2015 in the AUSC, and said that the academic performance is below level in terms of the curricula & instruction technical diploma, and that the university does not comply with quality standards.

As such, the University affirmed that its admission percentage for all the academic programs available are fixed and declared in the student guide. “It has not changed for years, and the university strictly sticks to this percentage which has been approved by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.”

The scientific content of the modules of the curricula and instruction technical diploma – a post-graduate degree program, has also been developed as recommended by the experts of the academic accreditation authority in the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research who are assigned to evaluate and accredit the program.

As such, the Ajman University of Science & Technology is wondering about the extensive studies conducted by the director of degrees equivalence and accreditation department to assess the consistency of the educational outputs of the university and how much his reports and studies go with the internationally acknowledged standards of accreditation.

“Up to 10,000 Omani male and female students have proudly graduated from the Ajman University of Science & Technology so far whereas 749 are still studying at the University campuses in Ajman and Fujairah.”
