Parents and guardians of students enrolled in Abu Dhabi private schools have complained that the schools have informed them that they must make their last school fee installment payment on Sunday, before the results of the first trimester are announced, Al Bayan reported.
According to parents, the schools intimidated them, threatening to withhold their children's result certificates if payment was not made.
The Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec), on its part, has made assurances that the organisation's bylaws that govern the operation of private schools prohibit institutions from preventing students from sitting for exams if school fees are not paid.
In their complaints, parents noted that schools force them to pay school fees for students in two installements, especially if only one child is enrolled in the school.
The first installment is collected at the beginning of the academic year, and the second is collected in the second trimester.
