Al Najah Education has acquired a majority equity stake in Dubai-based Sabari Indian School (SIS). This has taken the firm's total investments in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia (Menasea) regions to Dh300 million.
Al Najah Education is the second private equity unit of Al Masah Capital, the Dubai-headquartered alternative asset management company, and focuses on the education sector. The firm has a strategy to acquire and build assets in the education sector spanning the Menasea.
With a capacity of 900 students, SIS is the third school in Al Najah's portfolio and the first school offering the Indian curriculum. Al Najah owns the Horizon English School, Horizon International School in Dubai and nurseries, drama school and a training centre in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Singapore.
Shailesh Dash, chairman of Al Najah and CEO of Al Masah Capital, said: "Acquisition of the Sabari Indian School in Dubai is in line with our strategy to build one of the largest and most diversified education companies in the Menasea region."
