The Ras Al Khaimah Charity Foundation will be paying Dh2,708,000 as education fees for 268 school and university students of low-income families.
Up to 170 of these are studying in different primary schools here, while 98 others are university students, according to Mohammed Jakkah, Secretary-General of the Foundation.
"The Zakat Committee of the foundation has approved a budget of Dh543,000 as education fees for 44 secondary school graduates who have just started their first academic year in the university."
Up to Dh1,670,000 have also been approved for 54 university students who have already been supported by the foundation in previous years, he added.
"As such, the foundation is supporting 98 male and female university students of low-income families here with Dh2,213,000."
Al Jakkah said the foundation is now looking at the applications of 170 primary school students of poor families in order to provide them with fee assistance.
"A budget of Dh495,000 is to be approved for these," he said.
The foundation spares no effort to help school and university students of low-income families as per the Amiri decree No (4) which streamlines the work of the foundation, he added.
