In an endeavour to promote a paperless environment, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) has introduced an ‘Online School Licensing Service’ for individuals interested in investing in a new private school in the emirate.

The newly launched school licensing site consists of a user-friendly application form for investors/developers/operators who wish to apply for a new school and track the process of submitted application.

“The online school licensing service provided by Adec is the first of its kind in the region. We are very proud to have introduced this service, since it will help ease matters for both investors and for Adec employees.

The programme is easy to access, free of charge and is a great reference for both parties without the fear of missing information or paperwork loss,” said Hamad Al Dhaheri, Private Schools and Quality Assurance executive director at Adec.

Through a simple username and password or via an Emirates ID card sign-in, users are directed to an application form alongside various guidelines to follow.

So far, 18 different applications and requests have been submitted to Adec’s Licensing and Accreditation Division and are at different stages of the licensing process through the newly launched website which can be accessed via Adec’s official portal (www.adec.ac.ae).

Some of the features include a bilingual web application in English and Arabic; applicant’s registration form; school licensing online form which will enable Adec to collect new school general information, required documents, provisioning, certifying and saving them in one digital archive.

Adec staff will be able to request and review component and later to accept/reject submitted school licensing requests based on using the digital scoring matrix tool; applicants will be notified on request approval or rejection through SMS and e-mail; applicants will be able to track their submission and see the status of their applications and documentation for school licensing information including detailed requirements document, prototype, technical design, space calculation, financial template and deployment guide will be available.

All other licensing procedures are due to be automated some of which includes renewals of school licenses, amendment of school licenses, fee increases, and appointment of staff.
