School buses in East Coast get cameras

Emirates Transport Corporation, East Coast Branch, has completed providing 470 school buses with surveillance cameras and sensors.

In a move to keep means of transport safe and secure, the Emirates Transport Corporation, East Coast Branch has completed providing 470 school buses with surveillance cameras and sensors.

Work is also underway on repairing some technical glitches in the surveillance cameras and sensors in 43 other buses, as well as setting up a school buses transport building in Al Heel neighbourhood.

The corporation said a new technical workshop for repair of motor vehicles and public buses has been opened.

Mohammed Suhail Saeed, director of the branch, said work was completed on providing 470 school buses with surveillance cameras and sensors to ensure the security and safety of students. “Work is in full swing on repairing and maintaining some technical breakdowns in the cameras and sensors of 43 other buses,” he said.

“All new school buses which are brought to the branch are provided with up-to-date technologies and means of security and safety,” he said, noting that the new auto repair workshop has been opened, and is meant for doing the service and repair to the motor vehicles of the corporation at the branch.”

The facility is provided with all equipment and tools as well as well-trained personnel, he said, adding that the branch does not lack in anything, be it drivers or school buses.

“The corporation’s management had approved constructing a separate building for school buses at the headquarters of the corporation, and the budget for setting up of the facility was approved. The two-storey building includes a theatre, halls for training, offices for administration, rest houses for drivers and another for the woman supervisors as well as toilets.

“A total of 16 female supervisors for school buses of kindergarten and grade 1 elementary schools have been appointed, bringing the total number of the female school bus supervisors in the east coast to 296,” he said.-news@khaleejtimes.com
