The graduation ceremony of over 500 students of American University Sharjah (AUS) on Saturday was attended by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and founder and president of the American University of Sharjah (AUS).
Dr Shaikh Sultan expressed his pride in the university in launching the Master of Science in Accounting degree programme, the first of its kind in the UAE, while addressing the Fall 2013 commencement ceremony of the university.
The ceremony had 516 students graduating in various majors offered by the university at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The ceremony was also attended by Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
“I would like to congratulate your university, which celebrates you today, because you, my dear sons and daughters, are an integral part of its mission towards excellence and leadership,” said Shaikh Sultan. AUS Acting Chancellor Dr Thomas Hochstettler also applauded the graduates.
In 1997, AUS opened its doors to 285 students with 30 faculty members. Today, the university is a complex of stunning buildings with over 6,000 students and a full-time faculty of more than 350 highly trained men and women.
