The Sharjah Police will deploy 60 patrols and 25 traffic policemen on the emirate's roads with the beginning the new academic year from August 30. Some of the traffic policemen will be stationed in certain locations that witness heavy traffic, especially school buses. Police patrols will be also be stationed near schools to ensure no traffic jams and safety of students.
Colonel Ahmed bin Darwish, Acting Director of Traffic and Patrols Department of the Sharjah Police, said the police have a comprehensive plan in place to monitor the traffic. He said Anjad patrols, ambulance and rescue team, will be positioned across the emirate, especially in the morning to deal with the school rush.
As traffic is expected to swell on the emirate's roads with the reopening of schools, Col Ahmed bin Darwish said the police will look to decongest roads and ensure road safety.
The move is in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Interior that aims to ensure that the police provides quick response to any emergencies on roads. The aim is to keep the emirate's roads accident free.
He Sharjah police held meeting with strategic partners including the Sharjah Educational Zone and the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority to achieve the objectives of the Sharjah Police and the Ministry of Interior.
