Outstanding Grade 10 and 11 students who travelled to several destinations as part of a grant from His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, have now started the programme's activities.
The Summer Abroad Programme, a generous grant from Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed who is also chairman of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec), is being organised for the 10th year.
The programme will help students improve their academic and personal skills, as well encourage them to become independent individuals, while enhancing their English, and leadership skills.
Ahmad Al Shamsi, Adec's General Services Division Manager and the Project Manager, said the programme reflects the great support provided by Abu Dhabi's prudent leadership for students.
"Students will enjoy a full schedule, including visiting educational, cultural and touristic sites. The Grade 10 and Grade 11 students flew to the United States of America, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and Ireland to join well-reputed institutions. - reporters@khaleejtimes.com
The number of students enrolled in the programme since its launch in 2006 has reached 4,660. Among the criteria governing the selection are academic performance, that is soring 85 per cent or more, their behavior at school and participation in extracurricular activities.
