Students in Dubai who've "forgotten, been too busy, or had their homework eaten up by their pets" are now resorting to assignment-help websites in Dubai to complete their homework.
Several e-commerce websites in Dubai are offering their services to complete homework that students cannot do. The sites charge anything from Dh35 to Dh300 per assignment, for both school and university homework and essays.
Students can either WhatsApp or live chat with the administrators of websites such as assignmenthelp.ae who provide clear instructions on how they can do their homework.
Students are expected to submit instructions given from the school and university to the website and pay for the service at Al Ansari Exchange or Western Union.
After which, experts or assignment writers will finish the homework and mail it to them on time. The students are charged for the assignment per page.
An attendant who spoke to Khaleej Times via online chat said: "We have several students from UAE universities that we write assignments for. Our priority is academic excellence of the students."
She added: "Our prices are based on the academic level of the order, number of pages and urgency or delivery deadline. We offer professional essay writing help regardless of academic level and deadline because we have experienced and specialised writers' team that undertake every order with full responsibility."
The attendant added that charges for express services are higher than regular services. Students in high schools, college, university, master's as well as students who are pursuing their PhD can avail the site services. The site also offers special charges for editing essays and homework. However, the most commonly used service on the website is the admission essay to different universities. The site charges anything from Dh75 to Dh150, depending on the word length, course of study and urgency.
A Dubai-based college-going student Aditi R (surname not revealed to protect identity) said: "I used this service only once because it was a very hectic week in college and I had to submit an assignment on time. If I didn't it'd result in loss of college credit."
She added: "The website also gives references for the content material and it is also not plagiarised. However, many students shy away from it because they fear the risk of fraud.
"I was really scared I'd get caught. So I've never done it again. I was also worried I'd lose money."
University and school lecturers said that except in rare cases, teachers can always tell when the student has not done the homework. They believe that conventional teaching methodologies are changing and so is the concept of allotting students homework.
