Is there any formula for global citizenship? How will the younger generation understand the idea of being global citizens?
More than thousand Indian students, who were keen to learn this, attended a workshop hosted by he Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) at the Shaikh Rashid Auditorium, The Indian High School, Dubai, on Monday.
Speaking at the event Mouza Al Suwaidi, Chief of Engagement at KHDA, said: "This really is the first-step towards making our schools understand the idea of being global citizens while helping us as a country to get closer to achieving targets set out in the national agenda."
Around 420 teachers and 85 private schools participated at the initiative, which focused on the importance of team building, holistic development of the student, Next Generation science standards and how to create global citizen mindset among students.
The emphasis of the event was on instilling good values, familiarising students with skills and innovative technology needed for radical transformation.
Graham Brown Martin, author, who delivered the keynote address said: "Self realisation is very important for any child. Children should be equipped with the skills to re-imagine society. We need to understand the purpose of education."
Moreover, the digital world has made it easier for students to come out from traditional education system and acquire skills needed for a global citizenship.
