Suleiman Altaf

Ibn Seena English High School, Sharjah

The subject that I hate the most is Science. Science is full of difficult names of chemicals and micro-organisms. It is hard to understand the names of the different parts of things, such as a flower etc. Definitions are too long and complicated and I get confused between them. Experiments are one of the key factors why I hate Science. In short, science is the most perplexing subject.

History is the subject I hate the most. The reason is that there are many dates to memorise and that too in chronological order. We also have to write big answers and make a lot of notes. This task bores and tires me. Sometimes studying and comprehending the sources becomes very difficult because of the ‘ancient’ words included in them. At times I also get confused between the histories of different countries having different governments.

Our Own English High School, Sharjah

The one and only subject I hate the most and will continue hating is boring History, which makes me sleepy. We have to learn and remember so many events, so many years and kings’ names that I get confused. We only keep learning more and more about our ancestors. I think the school should give extra projects and tests for history and make the students enjoy the subject.

Rudransh Rajput

Indian High School, Dubai

For me, there is nothing like a favourite subject. What I believe is that a student’s interest and aptitude makes him or her like or hate any subject. Moreover, it depends on the capability and efficiency of the teacher to make a subject interesting enough for the student to like it.

Imran Ameer

Al Ameer English School, Ajman

Most of the students hate one subject in their school life and even I do sometimes. Math, Hindi, Science or English — I think it is because of the strict teachers who end up making the subject non-interesting. Teachers should be friendlier with students by keeping an element of fun in daily classes. Also, teacher should be friendlier to academically weak students in order to help them cope with pressure.

Afthab Mohammed

Indian Excellent Private School, Sharjah

I feel that the number of subjects in the UAE schools are way too much. We have three extra subjects to study apart from the usual subjects — Arabic, Islamic Studies/Moral Science and General Science. These are added to the normal curriculum. It is actually more complicated to maintain a balance between all subjects. As an 11th grader, I get stressed in order to maintain a balance in all the subjects. I wish we had less number of subjects.
