The National Qualifications Authority (NQA) received at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi the delegation of Indonesian Embassy to UAE who was briefed on the UAE experience in developing and implementing the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the associated policies and procedures.
The Delegation, headed by Mr. Hussein Baqas, the Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE, discussed with Dr. Thani Al Muhairi, NQA's Director General, the means to cement the bi-lateral relations between the two countries in the fields of education, training, and mutual recognition of qualifications, in particular vocational and professional qualifications based on the requirements of the NQF, their established quality assurance procedures, and the best relevant international practices.
Attended by Nourah Al Matrooshi, Executive Director for Qualifications and the key staff members from both sides, the meeting highlighted the strategic role of NQA to facilitate the achievement of the UAE 2021 Vision of social and economic development, and the international successes of NQA in aligning the UAE NQF to the UK and New Zealand Qualifications Frameworks. The NQA"s role in linking education and training outcomes to the labour market needs, and the establishment of the Vocational Education and Training Awards Council (VETAC) and the VET awarding were further points of discussion.
H.E. Dr. Al Muhairi said that the visit, comes in the wake of the meeting held on May 27 between the Indonesian Minister of Labour and HE the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation Mr. Saqr Ghobash, aims to further bolster relationships between the two countries, in particular in the fields of assessing Indonesian work force coming to the country in line with the Authority's well- based experience of establishing overseas assessment centers to assure proper training of such work force before joining the UAE labour market.

He added that the meeting much highlighted the world- class NQA's achievement of "establishing the awarding bodies to take responsibility for the development of quality assured VET qualifications that can fulfill the needs the UAE labour market and the requirements of international competitiveness alike."
Nourah Matrooshi said that the meeting shed light on the UAE experience in engagement with the various industry sectors to develop national occupational skills standards (NOSS), now forming the backbone for the design and development of rigid VET qualifications, training UAE workforce, and assessing foreign workers coming to the country.
The Indonesian Ambassador, praised the UAE's much deserved status as a regional and international education and training attraction hub, expressed his willingness to further relationships with the NQA in relevant fields of developing NOSS and enhancing the principle of life- long learning.
