Whereas practical study is indispensable for university study, it has also proved profitable and even fees-saving for students of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai.
As per a well-designed system, adopted by the leading academic organisation based in the Dubai Silicon Oasis, practical study saves students about Dh60,000 of due fees.
According to a top academic here, students not only get a precious chance for advanced training with esteemed organisations, but are also paid well for the same, and some are even promised lucrative job opportunities.
"From amongst a long list of reputed local and international companies, 25 are offering high level training to our students," Dr Yousef Al Assaf, President of the RIT Dubai, told Khaleej Times at the sidelines of the 5th commencement late on Monday.

The ceremony, which saw 70 graduates in eight Bachelor and four Master degree programmes, was attended by Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports.
Also present were Shaikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nahyan, RIT Chairman, Barbara A. Leaf, US Ambassador to UAE, Dr Mohamed Al Zarouni, Executive Vice President and Director of Dubai Silicon Oasis, dignitaries, graduates and their parents.
Indicating, Dr Assaf said local and international companies are uniquely participating in setting curricula at the RIT Dubai in view of the needs of the labour market.
"Our strategic local and international partners and companies are not only well aware of the situation in the local and global market but do have a long and accumulative experience in providing high level training."
The 70 graduates have shown excellent performance in the eight Bachelor's programmes, spanning business administration, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, marketing, international marketing, administration, finance, and international business, and four Master's programmes, including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, leadership, creativity, and network management.
"However, 15 of these students have been honoured with local awards and four of them were also presented with international rewards in appreciation to their distinguished work as part of ten winning rewards," Dr Assaf noted.
The RIT Dubai is all set to support the government of Dubai to be a smart city in the coming few years, he underlined. "We have therefore launched a special training diploma on smart cities to enlighten public and private sector about the importance of converting to smart cities."
Meanwhile, Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum presented the students with their graduation certificates, paying tributes to the tireless effort of the RIT Dubai to boost the progress of the country.
