UAE universities feature among top universities in the world

Three UAE universities have been named among the top 980 universities in the world by in the Times Higher Education's (THE) global league table.
Two of the universities - Khalifa University and UAE University - were named in the "501-600" section of the list; and a third, American University of Sharjah (AUS), was in the "601-800" category.
For Khalifa University, THE notes that the institution boasts an Aerospace Research and Innovation Centre, as well as a recently opened Micro Electro Mechanical Systems Lab, containing the most recently designed technology in the sector, and is the organiser of the wildly-successful Mohammed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge.
THE also notes that UAE University has a unique Water Institute set up to find ways to tackle the UAE's growing water scarcity. AU-Sharjah, for its part, is described as "consciously based on American models of higher education, while at the same time being grounded in Arab culture as part of a wider process of revitalisation of intellectual life in the Middle East."
Of the 980 universities included in the list, Oxford was deemed to the best, followed by the California Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Cambridge, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard, Princeton, and ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich.
The University of California - Berkeley and the University of Chicago tied for 10th place.
