Parents of students may now keep in touch with the administrations of schools in Umm Al Quwain in an instant through ‘WhatsApp’ service.

A senior official at the UAQ Education Zone said the new service will give a boost to communication with all parents in the emirate. The ‘WhatsApp’ service will also be used for posting examination schedules after being approved by the education zone.

Saeed Ali bin Hussain, Acting Director-General of the UAQ Education Zone, said the ‘WhatsApp’ service is aimed to improve the level of education in the schools of the emirate.

“We shall be in direct and instant communication with parents to receive and respond to their suggestions, remarks, concerns, and complaints for the best of the educational process here.”

The Education Zone shall update all parents about the fresh news and daily activities of the zone and private and public schools in the emirate, he added. “Parents shall then be effectively involved in the educational process.”

Bin Hussein said the contact numbers of schools in the emirate will be put in one group. “Another separate group will be created for parents as well whereas a third group may be created for male and female students.”

Bin Hussein noted that all members of the groups will be communicated with at the same time through phone number 0563893393, following which their remarks and suggestions will be referred to the bodies concerned. “The UAQ Education Zone is already in direct communication with all members of the society via its official accounts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other social website.”

Bin Hussein said the ‘WhatsApp’ service is in line with the ‘Smart Government’ initiated by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

“The move is also in pursuance of the UAE Vision 2021 set to achieve a high quality life for Emiratis across the country.

“Using applications of modern technology has become inevitable these days.”
