Founder and CEO of XSEED, an Indian company that provides complete academic solutions for schools and students, Asish Rajpal proposed instituting a ‘skill report’ while speaking to students and parents at the ‘Child of Tomorrow’ workshop held at Credence High School.
The workshop took place in the school premises over the weekend.
Presenting a future-oriented competitive parenting and child nurturing format during the workshop, Rajpal said that times have changed for parents and children and a perspective of tomorrow should guide schools in developing educational tools. He said that a traditional progress report did not help assess the child in a wholesome manner and focused more on academic brilliance, while a skill report will be a comprehensive tool with broad-based assessment parameters.
“The challenge of grooming a child by parents as well as schools in today’s world is vastly different from what it was yesterday. In a rapidly evolving world, schools and parents will have to anticipate and prepare the children for new opportunities and challenges they may face tomorrow,” Rajpal said.
“It is vital that we initiate the child into the challenges of tomorrow today itself so that children are prepared in advance,” he added.
“A skill report will enable the parent to understand the child better. It will help us get a better view of the child’s talents and thereby an opportunity to nurture the children in an ideal manner that helps them develop their skills,” Rajpal added.
Emphasising the innovative nature of XSEED way of collaborative learning, which has been adopted by Credence High School, Rajpal said innovation in teaching methods and learning skills will have to have a perspective of tomorrow.
Khulbhushan Kain, the principal of Credence High School said Credence was one of the few schools in the UAE which follows XSEED way of learning and the selection of the learning method was done with conviction that it will help the school develop children into leaders of tomorrow.
“At Credence we have set clear objectives – that nothing stops us from finding new ways of teaching and collaborative learning that will make our children unique in their capabilities, be it academic or non-academic,” Kain said.
