The Abu Dhabi Police have launched a 'Be Careful' campaign to create awareness about online blackmailing. The authorities have urged parents to be on their toes and keep a tab on their children’s online activities.
Scammers might pose as women to gain victims’ trust, and then use their personal photographs in a bid to blackmail them to extract money, the police have warned.
The police posted a video on Twitter about the perils of online blackmailing.
In the video, a woman, who plays a victim, can be seen talking to a stranger. The stranger compliments her and asks the victim to share a few photographs of hers.
Soon, she falls prey to the stranger’s easy charm and starts receiving blackmail threats from him.
