Valued at Dh57.5 million, the new project includes the planning and laying of 600/900mm-diameter water-transmission pipes, over a total length of 3 kilometres. The project is part of Dewa’s strategic objective to enhance the reliability and efficiency of its water distributions networks and to provide a reliable water infrastructure necessary to enable the development and growth of Dubai.
“The main objective of the project is to enhance production and operational capacity, support water transmission networks and increase water flow to meet an increasing demand for water for current and future projects in the crescent area of the Palm. This will also contribute to Dewa’s efforts to promote sustainable development,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa.
“The project includes laying 600/900mm diameter water-transmission pipes made of glass reinforced epoxy to transmit water from the trunk of the Palm, crossing the tunnel to reach the crescent. The total cost of the project is approximately Dh57.5 million and is intended to increase water flow to meet the growing-increase in demand for water in the Palm,” explained Al Tayer. “The project will be carried out in accordance with a pre-planned programme, and is expected to be completed within 18 months.”
