London-bound flight was forced into an emergency landing after colliding with a flock of around 50 storks, media reports.
According to The Sun report, the Thomas Cook flight was forced to make a U-turn and land back at Banjul Airport in Gambia after its engines and landing gear were damaged by the birds.
The Airbus A321 - carrying around 170 passengers - was left badly damaged by the incident shortly after take-off.
Flight attendant described hearing loud bangs as the birds hit the plane during the incident on Tuesday.
Writing on her Facebook page, cabin crew Kayleigh Loveridge, from Newbury, described the ensuing safe landing and praised her fellow crew members for their calm attitude.
