Hold your horses, an F1 supercar is up for sale! British supercar maker McLaren Automotive has announced that it will be selling one of the last F1 supercars ever built.
Now you may ask, what's so special about this car? Well, during 1998, only six of the McLaren F1 were made, and chassis #069 was the 60th model overall to be hand-built in Woking, England. It has a 627 horsepower 6.1-liter V12 engine and the F1 was able to break the record for fastest production road-car, hitting 242.8 mph, which is still near the top of the all-time fastest car charts, 23 years later.
Another first, it was constructed from carbon-fiber, and the driver sits in the center of the car with two passenger seats flanking him or her on either side.
Only 64 road cars were built between 1993 and 1998.
And despite it being nearly 25 years in age, this McLaren's is the closest you will get to a brand new F1. Britain's Autocar had even dubbed it "the finest driving machine yet built for the public road" and that was back in 1994.
Well if you do have enough moolah to buy this car, it won't come cheap. British actor Rowan Atkinson, sold his twice-crashed F1 last summer for $12.24 million and another 1998 F1 was auctioned for $13.75 million. You can contact specialoperations@mclaren.com to inquire on pricing.
