The terrifying moment when lightening struck a passenger plane shortly after it took off from Birmingham, was caught on a home security camera.
The incident was captured on home security camera of a British man named Daniel Pereira, 31, who later posted the video on Facebook. Fortunately, the Aer Lingus plane which took off from Birmingham Airport about 9:30 pm on Sunday was safe after the lightening bolt.
"We see planes going over our house all the time, never seen anything like that before," UPI quoted Pereira as saying in Birmingham Live. Later, an Aer Lingus spokeswoman confirmed the plane was struck by lightning but it did not suffer any damage and landed as scheduled in Dublin at 10:38 pm.

While following the incident, a Birmingham Airport spokeswoman, "Aircrafts are built to withstand lightning and do frequently encounter lightning during flying. They withstand lightning strikes by using static wicks which allow the electricity to pass back into the air from the fuselage."
