What would have been a terrible road accident was averted by the smarts of the Tesla automobile.
Thanks to Tesla Motors' Autopilot 8.0 technology, which is installed in all their automobiles, an accident between two cars on a Dutch highway didn't result in a pile-up. What is Autopilot 8.0 exactly? It's a feature in Tesla cars which uses radar to track vehicles around the Tesla vehicle. It then uses this knowledge to help its passengers 'avoid' accidents by turning on the car's safety features such as the brakes.
Tesla Model X owner Frank van Hoesel witnessed it first hand with amazing dash camera footage of how his car reacted to a highway crash before it even took place. In the video, which you can watch below, the Model X's systems started applying the brakes as soon as the two vehicles in front of it came to an abrupt stop. The result? Van Hoesel and his passengers are safe and at a fair distance from the site of the crash.
While features like these are nifty to have in the future, Tesla still advises their customers to be alert and not rely on technology most of the time      as no modern collision avoidance system is perfect.
Watch the original dash camera footage of the Tesla's wonderful technology saving lives in the video below. Would you want this in the UAE?
