Designers drape the city in style as Dubai Collections kicks off

The March madness continues, after Art Dubai, Design Days Dubai, it's now time for Dubai Collections.

On Thursday and Friday, Emaar at Burj Khalifa celebrated the style of Middle East and North Africa region with a curated industry focused platform endorsed by the Dubai Design and Fashion Council, with six runway shows, two fashion presentations and a pop-up featuring some of the regions most loved accessory brands.

Held at the Burj Khalifa Annex, in attendance were London Selfridges' Josie Gardner and Saudi Arabia's Rubiyat's Alia Alhamed.

With Nadine Kanso's fine jewellery brand Bil Arabi and Nathalie Trad displaying her latest bag collections the pop-up shop attracted a lot of fashion crowd.

On day one Mochi presented her new collection "An African collection" using tribal influences it was on trend with cold shoulders and wrap tops. Known for use of crafts and textiles this collection made you want to take a trip to the safari.

Taking to the catwalk was former lifestyle blogger Arwa Al Banawi, known for fusing androgyny with femininity, her use of drape in jackets and outerwear deserve a special mention. Other designers of note taking part in this two day fashion extravaganza are Taller Marmo, Bouguessa and House of Nomad.
