The 14th AFOC Open Sports Festival is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs.

In an action-packed match, Adams defeated the Uzbekistan national women’s team by a solitary goal, following an own goal scored by an Uzbek defender, who was trying to clear a goal-bound shot by Jaletta Yeshinko.

The win lifted Adams to a full six points from two matches, and top of Group (1). They await the winners of the second team from Group (2).

In the second fixture of the night, Abu Dhabi Club (B) secured their first win and three points after blanking Sharjah Ladies 2-0. Maryam Ibrahim and Khadija Emani second in the second half. The win placed Abu Dhabi Club (B) on top of Group (2) on goal difference against Al Dhafra Ladies, who also have three points and a match at hand.

A win or draw for Al Dhafra Ladies will take the team to the top of Group (2), pairing them against the second of Group (1). General (Rtd) Mohammed Hilal Surour Al-Ka’abi, AFOC Board Chairman, Committee Chairman of UAE’s ‘Football for All’ and Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee and other officials, were present at the match, which attracted a large number of football fans.

Meanwhile, the second round of the PlayStation event, kick-starts later, as a prelude to the 64th round on Sunday. The 16th and quarterfinal rounds will be held on August 24, while the final has been slated for August 28.
