Hodgson was named manager of the year by the League Managers’ Association on Tuesday after leading his side on a fairytale run to Wednesday’s Europa League final against Atletico Madrid.
Hodgson, whose team defeated Juventus, Wolfsburg, Hamburg and Shakhtar Donetsk on the way to the final, also guided unfashionable Fulham to the FA Cup quarter-finals and 12th spot in the Premier League.
That success has seen the former Inter Milan and Switzerland boss suggested by some pundits as an ideal replacement for Capello if the Italian leaves after the World Cup.
Fayed has already seen one Fulham manager leave to take the England job during his reign and he would be willing to let Hodgson go if the chance came to follow in the footsteps of Kevin Keegan.
“If it is England I don’t mind having to sacrifice Roy,” Al Fayed told The Guardian.
“It is important England do well. When England came for Kevin Keegan in 1999 I didn’t have any objection.
“It gave us pride that England was led by an ex-Fulham manager. If they want Roy for England I don’t mind.”
