The former Barcelona and Arsenal star passed to Angel for goals in the 10th and 58th minutes, twice putting New York ahead in his first competitive match since France’s first-round World Cup exit in June.

However, Brian Mullan scored in the 90th minute to lift the Dynamo to their fourth tie in five matches. Brad Davis also scored for Houston, which is winless since May 22.

New York got its third draw in four matches to remain in second place in the Eastern Conference.

In other MLS matches, Marko Perovic scored an unassisted goal from about 30 yards out in the 71st minute, allowing the New England Revolution to salvage a 1-1 draw with the Philadelphia Union.

Perovic’s long shot appeared to take an awkward bounce past Union goalkeeper Chris Seitz, giving him four goals on the season and extending the Revolution’s unbeaten streak to five.

The Revolution have been terrible on the road, going 1-6-1, but their current winning streak has given them a lift. It includes two league matches and three wins in SuperLiga action.

Sebastien Le Toux scored his team-best eighth goal of the season for Philadelphia in the 25th minute.

FC Dallas extended its unbeaten streak to eight games with a 1-1 draw against Colorado.

Colorado defender Julien Baudet put the ball into his own net in the 22nd minute to keep FC Dallas unbeaten since losing to Los Angeles on May 20. Mehdi Ballouchy countered with a goal on a penalty kick.

Teal Bunbury took advantage of a defensive miscue and scored in the 61st minute to lift Kansas City past Toronto FC 1-0.

The win gave Kansas City its first three-match unbeaten streak of the year. Toronto fell to 1-6-1 in road games.

The Wizards, who were coming off a 2-1 exhibition victory over Manchester United last Sunday, were slow to get their offense on track against Toronto with only one shot on goal in the first half.

But in the 61st minute, Bunbury tracked down a botched back pass by Adrian Cann and struck a line-drive header from the edge of the penalty area. Keeper Stefan Frei got a hand on the ball, but the high deflection glanced off the bottom of the crossbar and into the goal.

Alvaro Saborio, Robbie Findley and Nelson Gonzalez scored to help Real Salt Lake extend its franchise-record unbeaten home streak to 20 games with a 3-0 route of D.C United.

The defending champions are just two games away from the MLS record, set by the Columbus Crew last year. The victory also was the fifth in a row at home for Salt Lake over United, now winless in its last six games.

Fredy Montero scored in the 26th minute to lead Seattle to a 1-0 victory over San Jose for its third straight victory.

Montero has now scored or assisted on the Sounders’ last eight goals and 12 of their last 15. Seattle moved past both San Jose and Colorado into fourth place in the Western Conference.

Playing their first match since trading high-profile designated player Freddie Ljungberg to Chicago, the Sounders didn’t miss his presence. They easily could have scored three more goals if not for leaping or sprawling saves from Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch.

San Jose tried everything in the second half to generate more offense, but came up with only two shots on goal all night.

Justin Braun and Blair Gavin scored in the first half and Chivas USA beat Columbus 3-1 to win a league home game for the first time since April 10.

Carlos Borja added a goal in the second half for Chivas. Eastern Conference leader Columbus lost for just the second time on the road this season. Steven Lenhart scored a late consolation goal.
