The indoor tournament was played at Deira International School’s stadium, where Team Spartan prevailed as the top, ‘5-a-side’, soccer team after netting two early goals in the final game, scoring the win and the trip to Johannesburg, South Africa for the whole team.

Shehadeh Ahmad, Marketing and Business Development Manager at KIA Motors UAE, commented: “It was an honour and privilege for KIA Motors to offer soccer players throughout the UAE this opportunity. The games today were of a very high standard and all players respected each other with great sportsmanship shown by all.”

“We will definitely look into promoting football on a broader scale through events like this, and we would like to congratulate the Spartans on an excellent result and thank Super Sports for a well-organised tournament,” he added.

“Kia Motors UAE designed this championship for football fans as part of our sponsorship of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in hopes of bringing some of the excitement of the games to the playing field here in Dubai, plus we hope to provide the winning team with an unforgettable experience at the games in South Africa,” Ahmad added

Spartan’s team captain, Sheriff Nagy, commented: “As a team, we played consistently well over the 2-day tournament. We had a brief slip-up in one of our pool games where we lost, but I think this worked in our favour and made us concentrate even more for the remaining games.

“The tournament was an amazing opportunity for football enthusiasts to use their skills to compete for a really fun prize, which will create a lasting memory and experience for the winning team,” commented Warren van de Merwe, Managing Director, Super Sports. All participating teams entered had their names thrown into hats, which were drawn out in to different pools of 4 teams.
